A standard test sieve is a commonly used particle size analysis equipment in laboratories, widely applied in fields such as minerals, metallurgy, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, food, and environmental protection. It is primarily used for particle size distribution measurement of granular materials to assess their particle size characteristics and quality.
A standard test sieve uses vibration or rotation to produce stratification and screening of the tested material on the sieve surface. The material with a particle size larger than the sieve opening is retained on the sieve surface, while the material with a particle size smaller than the sieve opening passes through the sieve opening and falls to the next layer of the sieve surface or collection container. By counting the weight or number of residual materials on each layer of the sieve surface, the particle size distribution of the material can be calculated.
Standard test sieves can be used for screening various granular materials, such as ores, fertilizers, pigments, powdered drugs, food additives, etc. Moreover, they can also be used for liquid-solid separation, such as sludge filtration, suspended particles, etc.
